How to activate Class and Location tracking in QuickBooks Online Plus Account?

Go to the Gear Icon

– Select “Company Settings” under Settings

–Within tab “Company,” look for “Categories”

—Turn On “Track classes” and “Track locations”

Track classes adds a Class field on forms so you can assign transactions to different segments like 1) departments, 2) locations, and 3) product lines.

Class and sub-class example for a construction company:

*Residential Work

**New Construction (residential)

**Renovation (residential)

*Commercial Work

**New Construction (commercial)

**Renovation (commercial)

Track locations adds a Location field on forms so you can assign transactions like 1) stores, 2) sales regions, and 3) counties.

Use location and classes together to get the most out of your financial reports. However, while location tracking is a lot like classes, with location, you can only assigned one location to a transaction unlike classes where a class can be assigned to each line.

Class and location tracking features are available only in QB Online Plus.
